What you are applying for

A fast, small loan for the things that could not be planned for

An emergency differs from a shortfall, and it can only be comforting when there is a reliable source to get the funds needed on the spot. When you need money desperately, where can you turn to?

Debt does not add to anyone’s reputation, but life happens, and an emergency loan becomes imminent. From the word emergency, meaning sudden, this is the right answer when you face such a need in Singapore — rather than putting an unforeseen expense onto a credit card and carrying it for a year.

Many foreigners and citizens have difficulty accessing or getting approved for credit in Singapore. If that describes your situation, there is no reason to wait for a bank to say no slowly.

We will not lend you more than the emergency requires. A larger loan does not solve a small problem — it just extends it.

Three things to weigh before applying for emergency funds

01

The need must be necessary

You do not have to seek emergency funding when the need can be foregone. A new pair of shoes to match a new suit is not an emergency. A hospital bill, a broken air-conditioning unit in July, or a car repair that stops you getting to work — those are.

02

It should be unplanned and urgent

Apply for emergency funding to solve unexpected financial problems that could not reasonably have been saved for. If the expense was foreseeable and simply arrived early, a standard personal loan on a longer term will usually cost you less.

01

Know the repayment before you borrow

Ask for the monthly figure, not just the amount. If the repayment does not fit alongside your existing commitments, say so on the call — we would rather offer less than set you up to miss a payment.

Bad credit

A poor credit score does not disqualify you here

OT Credit is one of the few Singapore licensed moneylenders that will never use your credit score against you. We do not stigmatise, because we understand that life happens and an emergency is unpredictable. What we do look at is whether the repayment fits your current income.

A licensed lender will

Read your recent income rather than your history alone

Pull your Moneylenders Credit Bureau report for you, so you do not need to bring one

Tell you the monthly repayment before you commit to anything

Offer less than you asked for if that is what the numbers support

What should make you walk away

A lender who contacts you first by SMS, WhatsApp or social media

Anyone asking for your Singpass password or ID to log in on your behalf

A contract note you are asked to sign while it is still blank or incomplete

A promise of approval and payout entirely online, without meeting anyone

why borrowers choose us

Fast when it matters, and honest about the cost

What borrowers tell us made the difference, in their words more than ours.

Minutes, not weeks

Our application process is the fastest you will find. Within a few minutes you are done, and in most cases the funds follow the same day.

No rigorous documentation

You will not be buried in paperwork at the worst possible moment. Bring your NRIC, proof of income and proof of address, and we work from there.

Responsible lending

We only lend what you can afford to repay. Sometimes that means offering less than you asked for, or telling you a loan is not the right answer.

three steps

How to apply for an emergency fund loan

step one

Apply online or walk in

Fill in the form here, or come to the Jurong East office. Either takes about five minutes.

step two

Speak to a loan officer

We call you back, usually within the hour during opening hours, and tell you exactly what to bring.

step three

Sign and collect

Identity and income verified, contract signed, money the same day by cash or cheque.

One point worth being clear about

Singapore law requires every licensed moneylender to verify your identity face to face at their approved place of business before releasing any money. A loan approved and paid out entirely online is not permitted here. If someone offers you that, they are not licensed.
